Mrs Bears Chocolate Cake
In my early 20s my now husband and I moved to London. (We ended up staying 5 years, getting married and our first child was born there). Quite a magic time in our lives.
On departing Melbourne, my mum gave me a home made cook book. Complete with cut out pictures and all the family favourite recipes. It is a book (actually) a folder I still have to this day and use regularly.
Theres lots of history in the worn pages and what I love is that mum kept the names and the origin of the recipes the same in my book as in hers. A particular standout is this chocolate cake recipe. Its called Mrs Bears chocolate cake (as in Mumma Bear). I often make this cake for lunch boxes or afternoon tea, and my kids also still refer to it as Mrs Bears Chocolate Cake.
Here is the recipe - Thanks "Mumma Bear" for sharing!!

1 cup milk
1 1/2 cups plain flour
pinch salt

1 1/2 teaspoon bicarb soda
1 1/4 cups sugar
150g melted butter
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla

Grease and line tin (20cm)
